India develops AI-based urban flood warning system for early alerts
New Delhi: Urban flooding has become a persistent issue for major Indian cities during the monsoon season. Addressing this critical problem, Indian technological institutes have successfully developed an AI-based early warning system.
How It Works
The system leverages satellite imagery, ground-level weather sensors, and machine learning algorithms to predict excessive water logging parameters in densely populated areas up to 48 hours in advance.
Implementation Plan
The pilot project will be deployed in heavy-rain cities including Mumbai and Guwahati before a nationwide rollout in 2027.
