In a shocking incident making headlines under latest news Assam, Chandranath Rath, personal assistant to senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, was reportedly shot dead late Wednesday night amid post-poll violence in West Bengal.

According to reports, motorcycle-borne assailants intercepted his vehicle in Madhyamgram and opened fire at close range while he was returning home to Barasat.

Driver Seriously Injured

The vehicle driver sustained serious injuries during the attack and was rushed to SSKM Hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities said the condition of the injured driver is being closely monitored.
