The upcoming World Future Energy Summit, organized by Masdar in Abu Dhabi, aims to build upon the significant achievements of COP28, where the ground-breaking ‘UAE Consensus’ was established during the inaugural UN climate summit in the Emirates.
The ground-breaking UAE Consensus and its multi-faceted mandates will be at the core of discussions at the World Future Energy Summit, where a dedicated Climate and Environment Conference will explore the expansive outcomes of COP28. The World Future Energy Summit, scheduled to take place from April 16-18 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), will bring together over 350 esteemed thought leaders and industry experts from around the world. During this event, participants will analyze and evaluate strategies for companies and communities to achieve their carbon-neutral goals.
With COP28 and the UAE Consensus paving the way for a fresh perspective on climate challenges and emphasizing innovative solutions from a diverse range of stakeholders, the global community responded to the record-breaking warmest year by collectively agreeing to shift away from fossil fuels for the very first time.
Furthermore, this proactive coalition of nations has set a bold target to triple renewable energy capacity globally by 2030, along with doubling energy efficiency enhancements within the next seven years. The oil and gas industry have also committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050, all the while promoting advancements in technology and the adoption of alternative fuels like green hydrogen.
The results went beyond the energy field and encompassed industry, transportation, and supply chains through the introduction of an Industrial Transition Accelerator aimed at expanding the use of low-carbon technologies. Additionally, COP28 urged for the overhaul of food systems through its Declaration on Sustainable Agriculture, Resilient Food Systems, and Climate Action.
Experts will explore ways to expedite results across various industries, such as tourism, manufacturing, aviation, investment, agriculture, utilities, energy, construction, transport, and healthcare, through a range of activities including keynote addresses, panel discussions, fireside chats, and case studies.
The Climate and Environment conference, part of the World Future Energy Summit’s comprehensive knowledge-sharing program, will include a specialized case study on the impact of solar energy on enhancing healthcare in off-grid communities throughout Africa. Additionally, there will be a panel discussion focusing on addressing skills shortages for sustainable careers in the field of climate.
