The disruption of railway services caused by a derailment in Assam’s Dima Hasao district, specifically between New Harangajao and Jatinga Lumpur railway stations, has resulted in a state of chaos.
This unfortunate incident has not only impacted the passengers but has also raised concerns regarding the smooth functioning of democratic processes. The occurrence, which took place while traveling from Badarpur to Lumding, has resulted in the temporary cessation of all railway services on this particular route, causing significant inconvenience to passengers.
As a response, the railway department has made necessary arrangements for the transportation of stranded passengers in Lumding. This includes individuals who were on board the 12503 Bangalore to Agartala Express as well as the 15611 Rangiya to Silchar train. To assist these passengers, the railway department is offering complimentary bus services.
Despite the aforementioned initiatives, a number of impacted travellers have chosen to utilize their personal means of transportation, deciding to journey to Silchar in privately owned vehicles. Concurrently, discontent is mounting among passengers who believe their democratic freedoms have been infringed upon as a result of the disturbance, leading to complaints being lodged against the federal administration.
The situation at Lumding junction is being effectively managed and relief measures are being facilitated by the Hojai police in collaboration with railway officials. As a result of the derailment incident, a number of train services have been either cancelled, partially cancelled, or rescheduled.
