The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), announced the results of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Class 10 examinations today at 10:30 AM, revealing a notable drop in the overall pass percentage. This year’s pass rate has declined to 63.98%, a sharp fall from 75.7% recorded in 2024.
Out of 4,29,449 students who registered for the examination, 4,22,737 appeared, while 6,712 were absent. A total of 22 results have been withheld, and 101 candidates were expelled due to malpractice during the exams held between February 15 and March 3, with practicals conducted on January 21 and 22.
Despite the dip in overall performance, Assam witnessed some brilliant individual successes. Amishree Saikia of Pragya Academy Senior Secondary School, Jorhat, topped the state with an outstanding score of 591 out of 600 (98.50%). Close behind was Saptarswa Bardoloi from Assam Jatiya Vidyalaya, Noonmati, Guwahati, who secured 590 marks (98.33%), followed by Anirban Borgohain, also from Pragya Academy, with 589 marks (98.17%).
Division-wise results show:
- 89,041 students secured first division
- 1,35,568 achieved second division
- 45,862 passed with third division
In terms of gender performance, male candidates outshined their female counterparts with a pass percentage of 67.59%, while female students recorded a pass rate of 61.09%.
District-wise performance highlights significant regional variations:
- Sivasagar topped with a pass percentage of 85.55%
- Dibrugarh followed with 81.10%
- Dhemaji recorded 80.64%
On the other hand, Sribhumi district fared the worst, with only 47.96% of students passing, underscoring the educational disparity in some regions of the state.
