As the third day of the winter session unfolds, the Congress party is determined to make a bold statement. Workers from across the state have reached the city, ready to surround the Assembly in a massive display of strength and unity. However, security has been ramped up, and several leaders have already been detained or placed under house arrest. With barricades being set up, raids increasing, the question remains: Will the protest go ahead as planned?
CONGRESS TO SURROUND LUCKNOW ASSEMBLY
The party has called for a demonstration today, to encircle the Lucknow Assembly to protest against the Yogi Adityanath-led government. To ensure maximum turnout, the party has mobilized its leaders from various districts across Uttar Pradesh to join the protest. The timing couldn’t be more critical, with the ongoing Legislative Assembly session.
TIGHT SECURITY AND PREVENTIVE MEASURES
Security in Lucknow has been significantly heightened. The police have set up sharp barricades around the Assembly in an effort to stop Congress workers from encircling. To further enforce control, several Congress leaders, including Ajay Rai, Anil Yadav, and Dinesh Singh, have been served with police notices. These notices warn the leaders of strict action if they take part in the protest.
The police have also invoked Section 163, which prohibits any action that may lead to public unrest. This legal provision aims to prevent any attempts by Congress workers to encircle or disrupt the Assembly session.
CONGRESS WORKERS DETAINED OR UNDER HOUSE ARREST
As the Congress workers from various districts make their way to Lucknow, police have intensified their efforts to halt their progress. Several workers have been detained during routine checks, and some leaders have been placed under house arrest.
The police’s heightened presence and raids have forced some into hiding, while others are detained to stop them from joining the protest.
