The FBI has identified a 20 year old Pennsylvanian man Thomas Matthew Crooks as the shooter in Trump assassination
Former President Donald Trump was the target of an assassination attempt Saturday at a Pennsylvania rally, days before he was to accept the Republican nomination for a third time. Moreover, the attack resulted in Trump’s minor injuries, one death, and two critical injuries.
SECRET SERVICE RESPONSE
Secret Service hurried Trump to his SUV as he pumped his fist in a show of defiance.
The Secret Service said it killed the suspected shooter — who it said attacked from an elevated position outside the rally venue, a farm show in Butler, Pennsylvania. Further, the shooting raised immediate questions about security failures by the Secret Service, which provides former presidents including Trump with lifetime protection.
FBI’S STATEMENT
In a press conference late Saturday, FBI stated they had not yet identified a motive for the assassination attempt. However, they emphasised their ongoing efforts to determine the motive and investigate how the shooter accessed the location.
EYE WITNESS CONFESSION: Trump assassination
The BBC interviewed an eyewitness who reported seeing a man armed with a rifle crawling up a roof near the event. Hence, the eyewitness and his companions tried to alert security by pointing at the man.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident. Further, urging anyone with information to contact the FBI.
