
The Assam government has rolled out a series of major welfare disbursements, infrastructure inaugurations, and development initiatives scheduled across the state in the coming days, ahead of the poll timeline. The announcements highlight a mix of financial assistance, connectivity projects, and public infrastructure expansion.
As part of its flagship welfare initiative, the government will disburse Rs 9,000 to nearly 40 lakh beneficiaries under the Orunodoi scheme on March 10, aiming to provide direct financial support to economically vulnerable households.
On the infrastructure front, the new Guwahati–Dighalipukhuri flyover is set to be inaugurated on March 10, followed by the opening of the Diphu flyover on the morning of March 11. Later that evening, the Jorhat flyover along with the Jorhat Prison Park will also be inaugurated, marking a significant push toward urban development and improved traffic management in key towns.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Kokrajhar on March 13, where he will attend multiple official programmes. On the same day, land plots will be distributed to tea garden workers in Guwahati as part of a broader welfare initiative aimed at improving the living conditions of tea community families.
Further strengthening connectivity in the Barak Valley and Upper Assam regions, the foundation stone for the Silchar–Guwahati Expressway and the Silchar flyover will be laid on March 14. These projects are expected to enhance regional connectivity, reduce travel time, and support economic growth across Assam.
