Assam Police have arrested 15 individuals from different districts of the state for allegedly posting inflammatory content on social media following the Delhi blast near the Red Fort metro station on November 10.

The latest arrests include individuals from Bongaigaon, Hailakandi, Lakhimpur, Barpeta, Hojai, Kamrup, and South Salmara districts. Those detained have been identified as Rafijul Ali, Forid Uddin Laskar, Inamul Islam, Firuj Ahmed alias Papon, Shahil Shoman Sikdar alias Shahidul Islam, Rakibul Sultan, Nasim Akram, Taslim Ahmed, and Abdur Rohim Mollah alias Bappy Hussain.

With these arrests, the total number of people detained in Assam for similar offences has reached 15, including six held earlier this week. Police said the crackdown followed intensive cyber surveillance and monitoring of online platforms to curb the spread of communal hatred and the glorification of terrorist activities.

The coordinated operation came in the wake of the November 10 Delhi blast that killed 12 people and injured several others after an explosive-laden vehicle detonated near the Red Fort metro station. The incident has triggered heightened security measures across multiple states, including Assam.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had earlier directed the police to strengthen social media monitoring and take prompt action against individuals promoting or supporting terror-related activities. The recent arrests underscore the state’s firm stance against any attempt to incite unrest or glorify violence online.
