The food delivery service Zomato has launched a ‘Pure Veg Mode’ and a ‘Pure Veg Fleet’ in India for customers who are strictly vegetarian. India has the largest percentage of vegetarians worldwide, according to CEO Deepinder Goyal, and these additional features were introduced in response to their feedback.
Zomato stated earlier in 2019 that it is not possible to guarantee that delivery logistics consider the preferences of vegetarians and non-vegetarians. According to the corporation, some executives in Howrah, West Bengal, embarked on an indefinite strike, alleging that they were being forced to provide beef and pork against their will by the company.

Goyal stated that India has the largest percentage of vegetarians in the world, and one of the most important feedback he’d gotten from them is that they are very particular about how their food is cooked, and how their food is handled.
Green delivery boxes will be used by Zomato’s Pure Veg Fleet in place of the traditional red ones. The CEO made it clear that these delivery workers will only pick up and deliver orders from eateries that provide only vegetarian food. They will not be handling any non-vegetarian dishes. They also won’t bring the green delivery box into non-vegetarian establishments.
The CEO of Zomato declared that additional specialized fleets will be introduced in the future to meet particular consumer needs. To stop cakes from getting smudged during delivery, for example, they are establishing a dedicated fleet of cake delivery vehicles that are fitted with hydraulic balancers. Over the coming weeks, this feature will be progressively made available across the country.
