The ICC has revealed that India’s cricket legend Yuvraj Singh will serve as the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Ambassador, with only 36 days remaining until the highly anticipated global T20 cricket tournament begins.
Yuvraj, renowned for his remarkable achievement of scoring 36 runs in a single over during the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007, where he led India to victory, is scheduled to participate in various captivating promotional events for the World Cup in the United States. This includes the much-awaited clash between India and Pakistan in New York on 9 June.
As the first ambassadors to be unveiled, Yuvraj Singh has joined West Indies icon Chris Gayle and eight-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt.
Yuvraj Singh, the victor of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2007, conveyed his enthusiasm regarding his participation in the forthcoming edition. He revealed that some of his most treasured cricketing moments originate from his experiences at the T20 World Cup, including the unforgettable occasion of hitting six sixes in an over. He finds it exhilarating to be part of what guarantees to be the most magnificent edition yet. Singh emphasized the distinctive ambiance created by fans in the West Indies, rendering it an exceptional venue for cricket. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place from 1-29 June, where the co-hosts USA will face Canada in the inaugural match at Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas. A total of 55 matches will be contested by 20 teams at 9 different venues, leading up to the grand finale on 29 June in Barbados.
