The World Para Athletics Championships kicked off with an electrifying start as a world record was set in the inaugural track event.

In the men’s 5,000 meters, two Brazilian superstars clashed, with Yehsun Jacques seizing the gold in a record-breaking time of 14 minutes and 53 seconds. Sakshi Kasana secured the seventh position in the F55 discus throw. Vikram and Rakshita Raju both advanced to the finals in the F57 javelin throw and the women’s T11 1,500 metres, respectively

The evening session in Kobe commenced with the women’s F52 club throw, where Brazil’s Coscelo Castilho clinched the gold with a throw of 24.35 metres, while Ananova of Uzbekistan secured the silver with 22.59 metres. In the men’s long jump final, Chinese jumpers dominated, sweeping all three medals, led by Chen Sheehong. Marufkhujaev of Uzbekistan claimed gold in the men’s F37 shot put final, while Hollie Arnold of Great Britain triumphed in the women’s F46 javelin throw with a distance of 40.89 metres.

Tunisia’s reigning world champion Rooui Tilli impressed in the women’s F41 shot put, achieving a distance of 10.15 metres. Brazil’s Cassiano da Silva emerged victorious in the women’s T20 long jump. Italy’s Carlo Fabio claimed gold in the men’s T72 100 meters finals, while Poland’s Magdalena secured the women’s T72 100 metres. Colombia’s Erico Mario claimed the gold in the women’s F55 discus throw category.

Indian athletes achieved notable results: Sakshi Kasana finished seventh in the women’s F55 discus throw, Vikram qualified for the men’s F57 javelin throw final, and Rakshita Raju advanced to the final in the women’s T11 1,500 metres.
