• Tesla App: An app for drivers to monitor and control their car, including charging status and climate control.

Tesla Showrooms in India
Tesla has plans to open its first showrooms in India:
• New Delhi: The showroom will be in the Aerocity area, near Indira Gandhi International Airport.
• Mumbai: Located in the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), a prominent business district near the city’s airport.
These showrooms are expected to cover around 5,000 square feet and will initially focus on selling imported electric vehicles. Service centers are not planned initially.

Why Tesla Will Be Expensive in India

Tesla cars will be expensive in India due to several factors:

  1. Import Duties: India charges high import duties (up to 100%) on fully imported vehicles, raising prices significantly.
  2. Limited Manufacturing: Since Tesla doesn’t yet manufacture cars locally, importing them increases costs.
  3. Luxury Brand: Tesla is considered a luxury car brand, and its high-tech features and premium designs make it expensive.
  4. Lack of Local Infrastructure: Limited service centers in India may make maintenance and repair more costly.
  5. Currency Fluctuations: The exchange rate between the US dollar and Indian rupee affects the cost of imported goods like Tesla cars.
In the future, local manufacturing may help reduce prices, but for now, high import taxes and logistical challenges keep the cost high.
