On Wednesday, a woman aged 43 was discovered dead at a homestay in Nedumudi, Alappuzha. The deceased, known as Haseera K. from Assam, was employed at the homestay.

The authorities have detained a suspect who is presently undergoing questioning at the Nedumudy police station. As per law enforcement officials, the individual in question, known as Saha Ali and hailing from Assam, was arrested in Kottayam during the latter part of Wednesday. It has been revealed that he had a long-standing relationship with the victim, Haseera Kathun, and was a regular visitor at the homestay.

The murder has been ascribed to a disagreement between the two individuals, as the victim was determined to accompany the suspect to Assam and living together with him. Saha, who is married and has children, opposed this decision.

Upon questioning, it was revealed that the suspect confessed to the crime. An officer told that Saha was reluctant to involve her in his life due to the complications their relationship had already caused within his family in Assam.

On Tuesday evening, the suspect arrived at the woman’s residence under the pretence of escorting her to Assam, where he then proceeded to carry out the act of murder. After strangling her to death, he tried to escape to Kottayam in order to catch a train to his hometown. However, his efforts were thwarted as the police successfully apprehended him.

The homestay owner reported that two individuals from Alappuzha were frequent visitors, presenting Haseera as their wife and son. Haseera claimed that her family had been residing in Alappuzha for a number of years.

The deceased woman’s body was found close to the homestay’s water tank at approximately 7:30 am on Wednesday. Upon further examination, it was determined that she had been strangled with a scarf and her earrings were absent. Additionally, authorities discovered a bag with her clothing, suggesting she was ready to flee.
