The Special Task Force (STF) in Assam achieved a major breakthrough in combating counterfeit cash during a swift operation. On the evening of March 14, 2024, the STF stormed a house in Pub Sarania, Chandmari, Guwahati, based on reliable intelligence.
Two people were caught using a printing equipment to deal with Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) during the operation at House No. 18, By Lane 4. One FICN printing machine, one hundred counterfeit ₹500 notes worth ₹50,000, 3 cell phones, a Honda Dio scooter (registration number AS-01-FA-7170), and a Wagonr VXI (registration number AS01AQ6351) were among the things found.
Both Saifuddin Suja, 32, and Debraj Karmakar, 30, the accused, were tenants in the rented house. Karmakar is from Bonaigaon district, whilst Suja is from Sarthepur, Lakhimpur district. The prosecution of the accused has been initiated by the authorities, who are highlighting the seriousness of their suspected involvement in the illegal FICN trade.
