In a significant development, the tally of Naxalites killed in an encounter between security forces and Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur has risen to 10. According to the Inspector General of Police, Bastar Range, P Sundarraj, the Final update till now 10 naxal bodies (09 male and one female). Notably, Weapons recovered so far include one LMG, one .303 rifle, one 12 bore, a huge number of BGL launchers and BGL shells plus other arms and ammunition.”
Furthermore, the identification of the deceased bodies is still pending, but they are likely cadres of PLGA Coy No 02, added Bastar IG. This encounter comes in the wake of three villagers being killed by Naxalites.
Speaking to the media, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma informed that the Bodies of Naxals are being recovered following an encounter operation by security forces after the murder of three villagers by Naxalites.
The encounter erupted at Lendra village in Bijapur following a joint search operation by the District Reserve Group (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action), and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Bijapur district falls under the Bastar Lok Sabha constituency, scheduled to go to polls in the first phase of general elections on April 19.
The encounter underscores the ongoing battle against Naxal insurgency in the region, highlighting the challenges faced by security forces in maintaining law and order.
