In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing battle against Naxalism, security forces in Chhattisgarh achieved a major victory on Thursday by neutralizing seven Naxalites in the border area between Narayanpur and Bijapur districts. This encounter, part of a wider anti-Naxal operation, shows the persistent efforts of security personnel to restore peace and stability in the region.

A police official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, described the encounter: “Our teams were conducting a routine anti-Naxal search operation when they were ambushed. The ensuing firefight was intense, but our training and resolve saw us through.”

This operation follows closely on the heels of another significant clash on May 10, when 12 Naxalites were killed in Bijapur’s Gangaloor area. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai lauded the bravery of the security forces. In a media address, he said, “An encounter broke out between Naxals and security forces in the Gangaloor area of Bijapur district. Twelve bodies of the Naxals have been recovered. I congratulate our jawans and senior officers. Ever since we came into government, we have fought strongly against the Naxalites. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah also want Naxalism to end in Chhattisgarh. We are benefiting from the double-engine government.”

Just days earlier, in the Bastar region’s Kanker district, a brutal encounter left 29 Naxalites dead and three security personnel injured. The incident underscored the relentless and often tragic nature of this conflict. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, expressing the government’s unwavering commitment, stated, “Naxalism is the biggest enemy of development, peace, and the bright future of our youth. We are determined to free the country of this menace.”

HM Shah’s words resonate deeply in Chhattisgarh, a state scarred by decades of insurgency. The people of this region yearn for peace and normalcy. The security forces hailed as heroes, embody their hopes. Each operation, each victory against the Naxalites, is a step closer to a future where children can go to school without fear, where development can flourish, and where the scars of conflict can begin to heal.
The encounter in Narayanpur and Bijapur is a testament to the courage and dedication of the security personnel. Their sacrifice and bravery are beacons of hope in the ongoing struggle to bring peace to Chhattisgarh.
