Rohan Bopanna and his partner from Australia, Matthew Ebden, emerged victorious in a momentous win during the men’s doubles final at the Miami Open on Saturday.

The duo, consisting of an Indian and an Australian player, triumphed over Ivan Dodic from Croatia and Austin Krajicek from the United States with a score of 6-7, 6-3, 10-16, securing the championship title.

Ebden and Bopanna exhibited remarkable statistics during their impressive performance, which encompassed 6 aces and an outstanding 69% first serve rate. However, despite their strong showing, Dodig and Krajicek emerged as the champions after a gruelling contest.

Fans across the nation were filled with excitement when Bopanna and Ebden achieved a historic victory at the Australian Open earlier this year. This remarkable accomplishment propelled Bopanna to the pinnacle of the men’s doubles rankings. Throughout the 2024 season, Bopanna and Ebden have consistently reached the finals, emerging victorious in two out of three appearances, instilling a sense of optimism for further triumphs.

Bopanna clinched his second career grand Slam title, this time in men’s doubles, marking a significant achievement in his tennis career. Notably, his previous Grand Slam victory was in mixed doubles at the 2017 French Open. Looking ahead to the upcoming French Open, Bopanna and his partner Ebden are determined to showcase their top form. The tournament is set to commence on May 20, and the duo is considered strong contenders for the men’s doubles title. However, they must remain cautious of their opponents, as they have proven to be formidable competitors. Demonstrating their prowess, Bopanna and Ebden displayed exceptional performance in both the Australian Open and Miami Open finals. Despite a slow start in the latter, once they found their rhythm, they proved unstoppable.
