Riyan Parag of Rajasthan Royals (RR) has been putting on an impressive display in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL), ascending to the third position among uncapped players with the highest runs in a single season.
During the crucial eliminator match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Parag played a significant innings, scoring 36 runs from 26 balls, which included two fours and two sixes, with a strike rate of 138.46.
Throughout the season, Parag has consistently performed exceptionally well. He has accumulated a total of 567 runs with an impressive average of 56.70 and a striking rate of 151.60. Notable highlights of his season include four half-centuries, with his highest score being 84, placing him as the third-highest run-scorer of the season.
In IPL history, the record for the most runs by an uncapped player in a single season is currently held by RR’s Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored 625 runs in the 2023 season at an average of 48.07 and a striking rate of 163.61, featuring one century and five fifties, with a top score of 124. Following him is Australian batsman Shaun Marsh, who, in 2008, scored 616 runs in 11 matches at an average of 68.44 and a striking rate of 139.68, also securing one century and five fifties, with a best score of 115.
Parag’s outstanding performance this season also positions him as the third-highest run-scorer for Rajasthan Royals in a single season. The top record for RR is held by Jos Buttler, who scored 863 runs in the 2022 season, averaging 57.33 with a strike rate of 149.05, including four centuries and four fifties, with a top score of 116. Jaiswal’s 625 runs in the 2023 season claim the second spot.
