RCB has provided financial assistance of ₹25 lakh to every family of the eleven fans who lost their lives in the tragic stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4. This was declared under the franchise’s new initiative, “RCB Cares”, meant to provide long-term empathy and support.
The stampede occurred in the course of the team’s victory parade, barely days after RCB won their first Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy. What was supposed to be a celebratory moment turned into tragedy, with eleven lives lost and more than 50 people injured.
In a heartfelt statement, RCB stated that nothing can fill the void, but this monetary relief is one step towards being with the bereaved families. Previously, the franchise had given ₹10 lakh as immediate compensation to every family.
Silencing their voices for almost three months, the franchise stated, “Our hearts broke on June 4. We lost eleven members of the RCB family. This support is not just financial aid, but also a promise of unity, compassion, and care.”
The RCB Cares initiative is aimed at offering sustained support to families as well as echoing the sentiments of fans. The decision has been universally appreciated as a responsible and empathetic move by the IPL-champion franchise.
