Renowned businessman and philanthropist Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of the Tata Group, received the esteemed KISS Humanitarian Award 2021 on Monday.
The KISS Humanitarian Award is an esteemed yearly global accolade presented by the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) in Bhubaneswar, India.
Ratan Tata’s health concerns led to the award ceremony being organized at his Mumbai residence. Notable attendees included N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Group, and Ricky Kej, a three-time Grammy Award winner, among others.
Ratan Tata, known for his reserved nature when it comes to receiving recognition, consented to receive this prestigious award after a direct appeal from Achyuta Samanta, acknowledging the significance of the KISS humanitarian honour. Although the award was declared in 2021, he was unable to personally receive it at that time due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Established in 2008 under the leadership of Achyuta Samanta, the KISS Humanitarian Award stands as the most esteemed accolade of KIIT and KISS, aimed at acknowledging individuals and groups who exemplify the essence of humanitarian efforts on a global scale. The distinguished list of past awardees encompasses a wide array of prominent personalities, including world leaders, Nobel Prize winners, and influential figures from different fields, underscoring the award’s extensive international recognition and prestige.
