On Monday, Defence Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party’s nominee for the Lucknow Lok Sabha constituency, Rajnath Singh, formally submitted his nomination papers for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his counterpart from Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, joined the Union Defence Minister as he submitted his nomination papers at the collectorate.

Before filing his nomination, Rajnath Singh led a roadshow in Lucknow, with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami by his side. During the roadshow, arrangements were made for an ambulance to pass smoothly.

Vying for his third term as a Lok Sabha MP from Lucknow, Singh had previously won in the Lok Sabha elections from Ghaziabad in 2009 before contesting from Lucknow in 2014. Lucknow is set to vote alongside 13 other constituencies on May 20, during the fifth phase of the seven-phased 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Rajnath Singh visited both the Dakshin Mukhi Hanuman Temple and the Hanuman Setu Temple in Lucknow to offer prayers. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami commended the Defence Minister for the rapid development in Lucknow, stating that the initiatives initiated by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee are being continued by Rajnath Singh.

Lucknow, situated in Uttar Pradesh, is one of the Lok Sabha constituencies, with the state having a total of 80 parliamentary seats. The Lucknow constituency consists of five Assembly segments: Lucknow West, Lucknow North, Lucknow East, Lucknow Central, and Lucknow Cantt. It is a general seat, and the main parties contesting in the constituency are the BJP, Congress, and the Samajwadi Party.
