Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, a leader of the Congress party, led a roadshow in the Jorhat district of Assam on Tuesday to show support for party candidate Gaurav Gogoi.
This morning, the general secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) arrived at Jorhat airport and promptly proceeded to Titabor, which is both the assembly seat of former chief minister Tarun Gogoi and a part of the Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency. Accompanied by Gogoi, state Congress chief Bhupen Kumar Borah, AICC general secretary and in-charge for Assam Jitendra Singh, Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia, and other esteemed leaders, Vadra initiated her roadshow from Titabor Chariali.
Priyanka Gandhi, addressing her supporters, emphasized the importance of removing the Bharatiya Janata Party from power to protect the country’s Constitution. She cautioned that if the BJP were to return to power, they would eliminate future elections by revoking the Constitution, which was established through the significant sacrifices of the nation’s martyrs.
In Jorhat, Gaurav Gogoi will directly compete against the incumbent MP Topon Kumar Gogoi of the BJP. The voting in Jorhat is scheduled for the first phase on April 19.
The roadshow journeyed approximately two kilometres to Titabor Tiniali within the city. Following the occasion, Vadra departed for Tripura to conduct another procession in the Tripura West constituency.
