A major drug trafficking network was dismantled in Golaghat through a significant police operation. Two individuals were apprehended and authorities seized more than 200 grams of heroin. Emerging reports in the early hours of Thursday provided detailed information about the successful crackdown on the illicit narcotics trade in the area.
The operation in Dergaon was carried out under the guidance of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jon Das from the crime branch of Golaghat police. Commencing at approximately 11 pm, the operation was meticulously executed based on reliable intelligence received about two individuals suspected of engaging in drug peddling. The officials displayed utmost precision and determination throughout the operation.
The operation ended with the interception of a Swift Dzire car with license plate AS 05 N 0175 near Rongamati tollgate in Dergaon. After a thorough search of the vehicle, authorities found 22 packets of heroin concealed inside the bass tubes of the car’s music system. The total weight of the seized heroin was approximately 263 grams, with an estimated street value of ₹50 lakhs.
After the confiscation, the authorities detained the two individuals who were in the vehicle during the operation. The individuals were identified as Mohammad Ali, also known as Fusu, and Jiskel Saad. It is worth mentioning that Mohammad Ali has previously been linked to drug trafficking activities, as stated by sources familiar with the ongoing investigation.
The effective operation represents a major setback to the spread of drug-related crimes in the Golaghat district, alleviating mounting worries about the threat of narcotics trafficking in the area.
