In a targeted operation aimed at curbing narcotics activities, the Jakhalabandha police conducted a late-night raid on a pan shop, revealing an underground drug operation.
Responding to a public complaint, law enforcement authorities targeted the middle tier of the illegal drug trade, apprehending three individuals, including the suspected owner of the shop.
During the nocturnal raid, officers caught Mrinmoy Borgohain, purportedly the proprietor, in the act of allegedly attempting to acquire narcotics. Alongside Borgohain, authorities detained Shanku Mandal and Pankaj Das, purportedly involved in the illicit activities.
A significant discovery awaited the police inside the pan shop. Hidden within nine small containers were a total of 13 units of suspected contraband, believed to be heroin. In a seizure emphasizing the seriousness of the situation, law enforcement officials confiscated a total of 52 grams of the illegal substance.
For an undisclosed duration, Mrunmai Borgohain, operating covertly, is suspected of managing a drug syndicate from within the façade of the pan shop. The arrest of Mrinmoy Borgohain and his associates represents a notable breakthrough in the ongoing fight against drug proliferation in the area.
Following the arrests, the Jakhalabandha police have escalated their efforts, launching an extensive search to trace the origins of the illicit drug supply chain. With the trio in custody, authorities remain determined to dismantle the network of drug trafficking afflicting the community.
