In the Jamugurihat area of Sonitpur distruct a poacher by the name of Hanif Ali was caught in possession of a rhino horn. Hanif Ali was apprehended in Bharalichapri when it was discovered that he was in possession of the possible rhino horn.
The forest department, village guards, and Jamuguri police worked together to make the arrest possible. The arrest of Hanif Ali is a significant step toward stopping the unlawful poaching operations that endanger the local animals.
Hanif Ali was arrested and is being held under the supervision of the forest department. Nevertheless, two additional poachers who were with Hanif Ali were able to escape the area while the operation was underway.
The police and the forest department are working harder to find the two poachers who have escaped. It is top be noted that no rhinos were killed in Assam in the year 2022 but few cases of poaching have started again from 2023. There are less than 3000 individual rhinos in the whole country making it an endangered animal.
