Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to release the 17th instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme in Varanasi tomorrow, benefiting over 9.26 crore farmers with Rs 20,000 crore. The event will also see the distribution of certificates to 30,000 SHGs trained as Krishi Sakhis. Among the dignitaries attending are Anandiben Patel, Governor of Uttar Pradesh, CM Yogi Adityanath, and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, along with state ministers.

More than 2.5 crore farmers will participate, including those at 732 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), over 1 lakh Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies, and 5 lakh Common Service Centres nationwide. Special events at 50 selected KVKs will feature interactions with Union Ministers, focusing on agricultural best practices, climate-resilient techniques, and utilizing digital resources like the Kisan-eMitra Chatbot.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan highlighted the PM-KISAN scheme’s impact, noting its role in supporting farmers’ financial needs directly through DBT mode since its launch in 2019. He emphasized the scheme’s contribution to India’s agricultural sector, which remains vital for the nation’s economy and employment generation.

The scheme has disbursed over Rs 3.04 lakh crores to more than 11 crore farmers to date, with the upcoming instalment increasing the total disbursement to over Rs 3.24 lakh crores. Chouhan reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing agriculture, praising the dedication of Krishi Sakhis as para-extension workers in promoting agricultural practices among their peers.

The PM-KISAN scheme, a cornerstone of agricultural support, continues to bolster farmer welfare across India, aligning with the government’s strategic plans for sustainable agricultural growth and rural development.
