On the 103rd commemoration of the Jallianwala Bagh tragedy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, and various prominent leaders honoured the memory of those who perished in one of the most somber episodes of India’s quest for freedom.

Prime Minister Modi conveyed his deep respect for the brave martyrs of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre through a solemn message on social media. He highlighted the importance of commemorating the sacrifice made by those who lost their lives in that tragic incident.

President Droupadi Murmu further paid tribute to the victims, recognizing their significant role in the fight for independence. She emphasized the indebtedness of the nation to these brave individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice for the cause of Swaraj, while expressing her unwavering belief in their everlasting influence on future generations.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated the emotions of commemoration and respect, emphasizing the importance of Jallianwala Bagh as a representation of the oppressive and tyrannical actions of the British. He commended the martyrs for fuelling the flame of revolution and transforming the fight for freedom into a united endeavour of the masses.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh further paid tribute to the victims, recognizing their unwavering bravery and unwavering commitment to the nation. He underscored the perpetual commemoration of their selfless sacrifice and its indispensable contribution to India’s quest for independence.

A large crowd of individuals demonstrating peacefully against the Rowlatt Acts, which bestowed the colonial government with oppressive authority, were mercilessly shot by British troops without any justification, marking one of the most violent episodes in their rule over India.
