The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the gruesome murder of RSS leader Srinivasan in Kerala, arresting a key absconding member of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI). The arrest of the absconder identified as Shafeekh, who had been on the run since the targeted killing of Srinivasan in Palakkad on April 16, 2022, marks a crucial development in the conspiracy behind the heinous crime.
Shafeekh, a resident of Malappuram district, was identified as part of the PFI machinery and hit squads responsible for orchestrating the murder of Srinivasan. According to NIA investigations, Shafeekh had harboured Ashraf KP, another key suspect involved in the conspiracy, under the directions of PFI leadership. Ashraf, along with other leaders and cadres of the organization, had conspired to execute the plot.
The NIA’s relentless pursuit has led to the identification of 71 individuals implicated in the conspiracy, with two chargesheets already filed on March 17, 2023, and November 6, 2023. The agency’s thorough investigation has shed light on the elaborate planning and coordination involved in the heinous crime, exposing the depth of the conspiracy orchestrated by PFI operatives.
