Motorola introduced the Motorola Edge 50 Pro today during a grand unveiling event held in New Delhi, India, showcasing it in three captivating colors: Black Beauty, Luxe Lavender, and Moonlight Pearl. Our initial encounter was with the luxurious lavender variant, and here’s our first take on the device.

Packaged in an eco-conscious retail box crafted from 80% recycled materials, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro emphasizes sustainability with its plastic-free approach. Inside, alongside the device, users will find a charging cable, SIM ejector tool, and a protective case, which not only matches the smartphone’s color but also adheres to eco-friendly standards. Adding a unique touch, Motorola includes what it dubs “Moto Fragrance” within the box, enhancing the unboxing experience with its pleasing aroma, albeit one that is expected to dissipate after a few days.
The smartphone boasts a striking 6.7-inch 144Hz 10-bit curved pOLED display, boasting a resolution of 1,220p. Pantone Validated for true color representation and reaching a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, this display is HDR10+ compatible, ensuring vivid and immersive visuals. Motorola asserts that this validation guarantees accurate rendering of various human skin tones.
Protection for the Motorola Edge 50 Pro’s screen comes in the form of Gorilla Glass, although specific details regarding the version remain undisclosed. Positioned at the center is a punch-hole housing the 50 MP selfie camera with autofocus and an f/1.9 aperture.
Beneath the display lies a responsive fingerprint scanner, though some may find its size slightly diminutive for optimal usability. On the flip side, the rear panel showcases a Pantone-validated 50 MP “AI Powered Pro-Grade Camera,” accompanied by a 10 MP telephoto lens offering 3x optical and 30x hybrid zoom capabilities, as well as a 13 MP ultrawide camera with a 120° field of view, capable of capturing macro shots.
Encased in a squircle-shaped island, these cameras provide advanced imaging capabilities, albeit causing the device to wobble on flat surfaces. The rear cover of the Moonlight Pearl variant, crafted by Italian design house Mazzucchelli 1849, features a unique handmade acetate finish. Meanwhile, the Luxe Lavender and Black Beauty models boast silicone vegan leather back panels, offering a comfortable grip despite some minor incongruities with the metal frame.
In terms of ports and controls, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro houses the power key and volume buttons along its right-side frame, with a USB-C port located at the bottom alongside a SIM card slot, microphone, and speaker. At the top, a secondary microphone adorned with Dolby Atmos text completes the setup.
Under the hood, the device is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, available in configurations of 8 GB/12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. Running on Android 14 with the new Hello UI overlay, the smartphone ensures a clean user experience, devoid of pre-installed third-party applications. Motorola pledges three years of Android version updates and four years of security patches, albeit released quarterly.
Driving the device is a 4,500 mAh battery, supported by 125W TurboPower charging, although only the 12 GB/256 GB variant ships with a 125W adapter. Other notable features include IP68 rating, 5G connectivity, NFC, stereo speakers, spatial sound, Hi-Res Audio, and support for 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wired charging.
