In light of the violence that occurred at the polling stations in Manipur on April 19, the Election Commission has decided to conduct a re-poll.

The polling commenced at 7 am and is set to persist until 5 pm. The voter turnout in Manipur reached 69.18 % by 7 pm on Friday.

During the initial phase of the Lok Sabha elections on Friday, certain individuals reportedly engaged in acts of firing and vandalizing EVMs at these polling stations. In order to prevent any untoward incidents, enhanced security measures have been implemented across all the polling stations.

Across these 11 polling stations, a total of 8,493 individuals are eligible to vote. This includes 3,990 males, 4,497 females, and 6 transgender voters. The polling stations are situated in five Assembly constituencies that are spread out between Imphal East and Imphal West districts.

Re-polling is currently taking place at several polling stations that have been affected. These include Moirangkampu Sajeb Upper Primary School and S. Ibobi Primary School (East Wing) in the Khurai assembly constituency. Additionally, there are four affected polling stations in Kshetrigao, one in Thongju, three in Uripok, and one in Konthoujam.

Additionally, clashes erupted at a polling booth located in Moirangkampu Sajeb Awang Leikai of Imphal, Manipur.

All 32 assembly segments within the Manipur parliamentary constituency and 15 assembly segments in the outer Manipur (ST) parliamentary constituency participated in the Lok Sabha elections. The voting for the remaining 13 segments in Outer Manipur is scheduled for the second phase on April 26th.
