The expedition began on April 13th when the team departed from the Indian Shore at 13:00 hours. They then went through customs and immigration checks at 15:00 hours. Leaving from Dhanushkoti, India, the team set sail for Sri Lanka. The official start of the expedition took place on April 14th at 05:00 hours, as the swimmers plunged into the waters from Talaimannar, Sri Lanka. The expedition came to an end around 15:00 hours back in Dhanushkoti, India. It was truly an extraordinary voyage characterized by endurance, friendship, and diplomacy.
Shaaswat Sharma and Bharat Sachdeva began their one-way Ram Setu Open Water Swimming Expedition on April 14, 2024, commencing at 5 am from Talaimannar in Sri Lanka and finishing their swim at Dhanushkoti, India. The expedition spanned a distance of roughly 32 kilometres and lasted for about 9-10 hours.
Shaaswat Sharma, a swimming national champion and an experienced long-distance swimmer, boasts an outstanding achievement of more than 500 medals and trophies, which includes numerous all-India records. Bharat Sachdeva, his partner, is a highly skilled Health and Wellness Consultant, an accomplished International Swimmer, and an Ironman Triathlete. Together, they aspire not only to overcome physical challenges but also to advocate for the values of universal brotherhood and friendship among neighbours.
