The gates of Baba Kedarnath Dham are poised for a grand reopening this Friday, marking the end of a six-month closure.

In anticipation of the reopening, popular tourist spots like Sonprayag and Gaurikund are bustling with crowds, most of whom are making their way toward Kedarnath Dham.

In Gaurikund, a considerable number of pilgrims are gathering, awaiting their turn to secure rides on horses or mules, while others are trekking towards the shrine on foot. The ceremonial opening preparations for Kedarnath Dham commenced earlier, involving rituals and the recitation of sacred mantras.

Notably, the temple has been adorned with 40 quintals of flowers, as stated by the president of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee. Recently, Lord Kedarnath’s Panchmukhi Doli embarked on its journey from Gauramai Temple in Gaurikund.

On May 6, the Devdoli reached Shri Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath from Shri Vishwanath Temple in Guptkashi for its temporary residence, and on May 7, it reached its next stop, Phata. This year’s Char Dham Yatra will commence on May 10 with the opening of three of the four shrines—Gangotri, Yamunotri, and Kedarnath—while the gates of the Badrinath Dham will open on May 12.

The Char Dham Yatra holds immense spiritual significance for Hindus and typically spans from April-May to October-November.
