During the second phase of the Lok Sabha election 2024, the Kanakpura polling station has established a distinctive polling booth adorned with a forest theme. This innovative endeavour, led by the Kanakapura Forest Department, seeks to captivate voters and promote consciousness regarding the importance of forest conservation.

The GTTC Polling Station No-79 in Kanakapura has created a unique polling experience for voters with its special polling station named ‘Adavi’, which translates to ‘forest’. This polling booth has been beautifully transformed into a tranquil forest environment, adorned with native plants and thematic decorations.

The booth is adorned with a ‘chappar,’ a unique flower indigenous to the forest, positioned at the entrance. Additionally, decorative door hangings and strategically placed plants are utilized to elevate the forest-like ambiance. The Forest Department is further distributing saplings to voters as a component of an awareness initiative.

The initiative uses interactive displays and information materials to encourage voters to understand the value of forest protection and to instil in them a sense of ecological responsibility.

According to an official from the Kanakapura Forest Department, the creation of the Adavi polling station shows how important new ways of getting citizens involved can be. By setting up a voting booth in the forest, the department wanted to show its dedication to supporting sustainable actions and getting local people engaged. When voters go to this one-of-a-kind polling place, it proves how creative thinking can help more people take part in the democratic process and become aware of environmental issues.
