The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially confirmed the resumption of IPL 2025. After a brief suspension due to security concerns following cross-border tensions, the BCCI has worked alongside the government and security agencies to ensure a safe environment for the remaining matches. The tournament, initially suspended on May 9, is now set to resume on May 17, 2025.

The final match, which was originally scheduled for May 25, will now be held on June 3. The revised schedule includes a total of 17 matches across six venues. Among these, two double-header Sundays will take place on May 18 and May 25. The postponed match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals, which was called off earlier, will be replayed on May 25.

The playoffs will be spread over several days: Qualifier 1 will be played on May 29, the Eliminator match on May 30, and Qualifier 2 on June 1. The grand final will take place on June 3, 2025.

In addition to changes in match dates, several venue adjustments have been made. Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings will now host their home games in Delhi, and Punjab Kings will shift their home matches from Dharamshala to Jaipur. The venue details for the playoffs are expected to be revealed soon.

The BCCI has expressed its gratitude towards India’s armed forces for their efforts in ensuring a safe return of cricket. They reaffirmed their commitment to national interests while ensuring the completion of the IPL season.

The suspension of the IPL due to security concerns had initially created uncertainty for players and fans. With the resumption, the focus now shifts to player availability, as several international teams have matches scheduled around the same time. The tournament’s final stretch promises high-stakes action, with fans eagerly awaiting the conclusion of the season.
