Allegations of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) violations have arisen after an IndiGo flight from Ayodhya to Delhi on April 13 encountered a risky situation. According to a passenger, the aircraft landed in Chandigarh with critically low fuel reserves, raising concerns about safety.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Satish Kumar recounted his experience on social media, stating that Flight 6E2702 was planned to take off from Ayodhya at 3:25 pm and arrive in Delhi at 4:30 pm. Nevertheless, approximately 15 minutes prior to the anticipated landing time, the pilot informed passengers that adverse weather conditions in Delhi would require a diversion.
Despite facing adverse weather conditions, the pilot reportedly hesitated to divert the flight despite two unsuccessful landing attempts in Delhi. According to Kumar, the pilot initially informed the passengers at 4:15 pm that the aircraft had 45 minutes of holding fuel. However, after extensive consideration, the decision to divert to Chandigarh was finally made at 5:30 pm, which was 75 minutes after the announcement regarding the holding fuel.
The aircraft finally landed in Chandigarh at 6:10 pm, when the crew disclosed that there was only 1-2 minutes of fuel left upon landing. IndiGo has not yet released a statement addressing the alleged incident, despite several social media users highlighting inconsistencies in the Flightradar data regarding the count of missed approaches.
