The introduction of the ‘Akashteer Command and Control Systems’ by the Indian Army’s Corps of Army Air Defense represents a notable stride towards enhancing India’s defense capabilities and technological expertise. This milestone was achieved with the commencement of the deployment of Akashteer, as the initial batch of Control Centres was flagged off from BEL Ghaziabad on April 4, 2024.

The Akashteer Project, created by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, aims to greatly improve the operational effectiveness and coordination of the Army’s Air Defence systems. This innovative project is focused on automating Air Defence Control and Reporting procedures through the digitalization of the entire process.

India’s dedication to adopting specialized technologies and systems to enhance its defense capabilities is highlighted by this strategic emphasis. The establishment of Akashteer Control Centers represents a significant milestone in this transformative endeavour, addressing both current requirements and forthcoming obstacles in air defense operations.

Furthermore, Akashteer places great importance on its ability to move and adapt, guaranteeing that it remains fully prepared for any challenging circumstances. This commitment to mobility and resilience greatly enhances India’s defensive capabilities.

With Akashteer leading the way, India moves closer to achieving full automation of its air defense operations. This significant achievement not only demonstrates India’s technological capabilities but also highlights the country’s steadfast dedication to protecting its airspace.
