The Government of India provided financial assistance for the construction of a school building in Sankhuwasabha district, where the foundation stone was laid on Monday.
Pasang Nurbu Sherpa, Chairman of Chichila Rural Municipality, and Avinash Kumar Singh, First Secretary at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, participated in the laying of the foundation stone for the Shree Diding Basic School Building.
The construction of the school is being funded by the Indian government at a cost of ₹40.29 million as part of the ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ initiative. In attendance during the event were political representatives, government officials, social workers, school management representatives, teachers, parents, and students.
The Chichila Rural Municipality in Sankhuwasabha is currently implementing a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) through an Agreement between the Governments of India and Nepal. This project serves as a significant demonstration of the strong development partnership between the two countries. Chairman Sherpa of Chichila Rural Municipality expressed his gratitude for the ongoing developmental assistance provided by the Government of India in key sectors, which greatly contributes to the betterment of the Nepalese people.
Since 2003, the Indian Government has initiated more than 550 HICDPs in Nepal across multiple sectors, successfully accomplishing 488 projects. Within these endeavours, 85 projects have been implemented in the Koshi Province, encompassing diverse sectors, with two notable projects in Sankhuwasabha.
