CM and BJP’s star campaigner Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that the rise of Muslim population from 12% in 1951 to 40% in 2024 in Assam is a real concern for him. Talking to media in Ranchi Jharkhand, Mr Sarma further stated that there is a demographic change in many districts of Assam due to the rise of Muslim population and it is an issue of life and death from him.
Assam CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma who is on a campaign task in Jharkhand is regular to the State where assembly election is scheduled to be held later this year. On Wednesday, Mr Sarma in Ranchi made such a big statement which has captured national headlines now. BJP’s bigwig Himanta Biswa Sarma’s big claim on the rise of Muslim population in Assam to 40% and also mentioning about the fact that many Hindu Majority areas turning out to be a Muslim majority areas due to increase in population has gone viral.
Mr Sarma also pointed out that illegal migrants enter India via Assam, West Bengal and then route through Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh. Talking to Media, the Assam CM also calls the rise of Muslim population in the state as a matter of life and death for him. Calling the rise of Muslim population in certain districts of Assam as a non-political issue for him, however, Mr Sarma clarified that it is a matter of existence for him now.
