Himachal Pradesh observed its 77th Himachal Day on Monday in Shimla, marking the founding anniversary of the state.

Today, an event of great significance took place at the renowned Ridge Ground in Shimla, where Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla graced the occasion as the esteemed chief guest. Joining him were Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, along with Congress Party State President and MP Pratibha Singh, who were present to mark their attendance.

In 1948, the day symbolized the establishment of the state as an Indian province. This significant event occurred when the districts of Mandi, Chamba, Mahasu, and Sirmour were amalgamated with 30 princely states. The festivities highlighted the abundant cultural legacy of Himachal Pradesh, with impressive parades by police squads and captivating displays of Himachali dance and folk traditions.

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla conveyed his felicitations to the residents of the region on this occasion, underscoring the remarkable accomplishments of Himachal Pradesh despite its challenging topography. In his address to the audience, Governor Shukla underscored the significance of collaborative endeavours in tackling the pervasive drug crisis afflicting the state.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has articulated the government’s aspiration to foster self-sufficiency in Himachal Pradesh, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts from citizens to achieve this objective. Today, Himachal Day is being commemorated with great delight and passion. It is imperative for the youth of the state to partake in this celebration with equal enthusiasm and contribute towards the advancement of both the nation and the state. The progress and prosperity of Himachal Pradesh can only be realized through collaborative endeavours from all individuals.

Himachal Pradesh came into existence on April 15, 1948, through the consolidation of 30 small and large hill princely states. The state’s unique identity as Devbhoomi is characterized by its rich culture, esteemed traditions, and stunning natural beauty.
