Following the devastating fire incident at a gaming zone in Rajkot, which resulted in the loss of 27 lives, the Gujarat government has acted by suspending seven officials, including two police inspectors and staff members of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC). These suspensions came into effect on Monday, May 27, due to allegations of neglecting their duties.

The individuals who have been suspended are Jaideep Chaudhary, an assistant engineer in the RMC town planning department; Gautam Joshi, an assistant town planner for RMC; HR Suma, a deputy executive engineer in Rajkot Roads and Buildings department.

Parsbhai M. Kothiya, an assistant engineer in the Road and Building Department of RMC; Rohit Vigora, the Station Officer of Fire and Emergency Services of Rajkot Municipal Corporation; and police inspectors VR Patel and NI Rathod. These measures were implemented by their respective departments in response to the officials’ serious oversight in allowing the gaming zone to operate without the necessary approvals, as stated in a government announcement.

The tragic fire occurred on May 25 at the TRP Game Zone. Following the incident, a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) conducted an on-site investigation to determine the cause and contributing factors.

Further legal steps have been taken, including filing a First Information Report (FIR) against six individuals, including Yuvraj Hari Singh Solanki, the owner of TRP Game Zone, and manager Nitin Jain, among others, at the Rajkot Taluka Police Station. These legal measures are part of the broader initiative to ensure accountability and justice for the victims of this avoidable tragedy.
