Northeast India's First Multilingual Foremost Media Network

Gopichand Thotakura is on the verge of creating history as the second Indian national to journey into space. He is set to embark on this space voyage as a crew member for Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ space enterprise, Blue Origin, on the New Shephard-25 (NS-25) mission.

In 1984, Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma, a former pilot of the Indian Air Force, became the pioneer Indian citizen to journey into space.

Thotakura, aged 30 and originally from Vijayawada, has been deeply involved in the aviation field since his youth, challenging conventional norms to pursue his passion for flying. His extensive expertise in aviation includes piloting various types of aircraft, such as bush planes, aerobatic planes, seaplanes, gliders, and hot air balloons.

Thotakura is a graduate from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Science, has clearly demonstrated a strong passion and dedication to the aviation industry and exploration. Currently, he is in charge of Preserve Life Corp, a worldwide hub for comprehensive wellness and practical health situated close to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

In addition to Thotakura, the upcoming mission will showcase the presence of former Air Force Captain Ed Dwight, who was chosen by US President John F. Kennedy in 1961 as the first African American astronaut candidate. The NS-25 mission not only signifies a remarkable advancement in individual space travel but also marks the beginning of a fresh era in sustainable space exploration. Blue Origin emphasized its commitment to reusability and environmental awareness, highlighting its dedication to reducing the ecological footprint of space travel.
