Eminent litterateur Padma awardee Shri Rongbong Terang was hospitalized at Dispur Polyclinic in Guwahati on Monday after being transferred from Diphu Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for specialized medical care.

The renowned author was admitted to DMCH on Sunday afternoon due to a heart-related problem. Despite worries, a group of reputable physicians is delivering thorough medical attention to Padma Shri Rongbong Terang, who is currently in stable health, as verified by doctors at Dispur Polyclinic.

The patient’s health status is currently stable, as verified by medical professionals at the Polyclinic. Prominent individuals, such as AASU Chief Advisor Dr. Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya and President Utpal Sharma, paid a visit to the medical facility to check on Terang’s well-being.

Terang, hailing from Lumbungdingpi in the Karbi Anglong district, was born in 1937. His educational voyage commenced at Kaki Lalung Village Primary School, followed by Lanka Local Board School and Lanka High School. In 1962, he successfully completed his graduation from Guwahati University, and later in 1966, he obtained his postgraduate degree. During his high school years, Terang embarked on his literary journey by publishing his article ‘Guri Parua’ in ‘Rangani’. Alongside his literary pursuits, he actively contributed to sports and cultural activities, showcasing his exceptional talents.

Terang played a crucial role as the president of both the 70th and 71st sessions of the Assam Sahitya Sabha, making remarkable contributions to the development of language and culture. Throughout his life, he remained dedicated to promoting harmony and empathy among individuals, as reflected in his inspiring motto, ‘Manuhe Manuhar Babe’.
