The calendar for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and certain State Assemblies will be revealed on Saturday, March 16, at 3 pm, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI). A news conference by the ECI is scheduled for New Delhi, and it will be broadcast live on social media.

The tenure of the assemblies of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Sikkim will end on June 11, June 2, June 24, and June 2, respectively. The 17th Lok Sabha’s term is scheduled to finish on June 16.

Shortly after taking over and joining Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu completed the three-member Commission, the announcement was made. On Thursday, the President had appointed the two. Last time, the EC had announced the poll schedule on March 10, 2019, which included polling in seven phases from April 11 to May 19, with counting of votes on May 23.
