In the past two months alone, Turbat, the district headquarters of Kech district, has seen up to 14 deaths attributed to dengue, according to Dr. Abu-Bakar, the district health officer. He disclosed that this year, 24,552 individuals were screened, with 5,329 testing positive for dengue.

The fatalities occurred across various villages in Turbat. Despite these deaths and the detection of dengue in thousands, the health department has not declared an emergency in Kech district nor provided adequate treatment facilities.

Many patients, like Mubarak Baloch, express hardships due to insufficient testing and lab facilities in both government and private hospitals. Mubarak, suffering from dengue for a week, laments the lack of proper treatment and the financial inability to seek care in Karachi.

Similarly, Master Azad Baloch from Turbat shares concerns about inconsistent platelet test results between private and local hospitals. Dengue cases have also been reported in Gwadar and Panjgur district.
