Delhi Police have arrested a wanted individual in connection with a fake visa racket at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, officials said on Saturday.
According to the police, the arrested suspect has been identified as Ravinder Singh, a resident of Bholath Kapurthala in Punjab, who was wanted in a case registered under sections 420/468/471 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Passports Act.
Officials said the case dates back to the night of May 29, 2012, when Vikram Jeet Singh, deported from Germany, was intercepted at the IGI Airport. During the investigation, a suspicious German visa affixed to his passport was discovered, after which the documents were seized and later verified by the German Embassy, confirming their falsity. Further inquiry revealed the involvement of an agent of Vikram Jeet Singh, identified as Ravinder Singh, who allegedly facilitated fraudulent visas for a purported sum of ₹2 lakh.
Under the close surveillance of Inspector Mohit Yadav, along with SI Sudhir June, ASI Deendayal, and HC Banti, a team tracked down Ravinder Singh in Kapurthala, Punjab. It was reported that during interrogation after the arrest, Singh admitted his involvement in the scam.
Officials stated that during questioning, the accused confessed to his crime in the case and revealed that in 2012, he arranged a fake German visa for the traveller’s journey and took ₹2 lakh in return. They mentioned that the accused was presented before the relevant court and remanded into judicial custody.
