Four people, including a married couple and two children, perished from suffocation following a significant fire that started on Thursday in a residential building in Shahdara, Delhi. The police have established that the victims of the early-morning event in Shahdara’s Shanti Nagar area are Manoj (30), his wife Suman (28), and two girls, aged three and five.

In response to the situation which happened at around 5:30 in the morning, the local authorities moved quickly, sending three PCR vans, ambulances, and four fire tenders to the area. Prior to encroaching on other parts of the structure, the fire started in the parking lot. Firefighters contained and put out the fire despite the tiny street providing obstacles.

Eight people were safely rescued from the building in Geeta Colony by emergency responders, according to Atul Garg, Chief Fire Officer of the Delhi Fire Services. Four fire tenders helped put out the fire, and once it was under control, they quickly took the injured to the neighbouring Hedgewar Hospital for critical care. Even with the quick response, the cause of the fire is still unknown until more investigation is done.

The tragedy serves as a sobering reminder of how urgently improved fire safety measures and readiness are needed in densely populated metropolitan areas. Authorities are still investigating the fire’s origin in an effort to ascertain what exactly happened to cause this awful incident and loss of life.
