In a key development in the Zubeen Garg death investigation, the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of five accused by another 14 days.

The accused, Shyamkanu Mahanta, Siddharth Sharma, Sandipan Garg, and their personal security officers, Nandeshwar Bora and Paresh Baishya, were produced before the court through a virtual hearing, as they remain lodged in Baksa District Jail.

All five were initially remanded to judicial custody on October 15, following their arrest in connection with the case. The court’s extension means the next hearing will take place after the new custody period ends.

Two other accused, Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and Amritprabha Mahanta, continue to be held in Haflong Jail.

Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is intensifying its probe, questioning several key individuals linked to the case as investigators piece together the events leading up to the singer’s mysterious demise.
