Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi, who delivered his first speech as the LoP with a copy of the constitution and photos of religious figures, including Lord Shiva, is facing significant backlash. His actions have been perceived by some as an insult to the Hindu community.
The United Hindu Front held a protest at Jantar Mantar against Rahul Gandhi’s recent statement on Hindus. Demonstrators gathered to express their disapproval and demand an apology from the Congress leader. The protester gathered near Jaisalmer house and attempted to march towards congress headquarters on Akhar Road, chanting slogans against gandhi and the grand old party.
BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj says, “Rahul Gandhi is an electoral Hindu. When he needs to engage in vote bank politics, he wears a sacred thread and performs the Rudra Abhishek ritual, but it’s just a drama.
Kanpur Mayor Pramila Pandey and BJP corporators also protested by burnt the effigy leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi in protest against his statement that “Hindu is violent”. They raised the slogan “Rahul Gandhi hosh men aao” (Rahul Gandhi come to senses) and demanded an apology for his statement. Pandey stated, “During elections he was asking for Hindu votes and after being elected to the Lok Sabha, he is insulting Hindus. This Italian mentality would not work in India”
In addition to public protests, two individuals in Ahemdabad and Surat, Gujarat, have approached the police seeking FIR’s against Gandhi under the new criminal law Bhartiya Navya Sanhita for hurting the sentiments of Hindus with his remarks.
This situation highlights the growing tension and the potential political repercussions for Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party.
