The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, assured on Thursday that the state’s BJP government will take on the task of providing education to female students up to the postgraduate level, while families holding a ration card will be granted government-funded life insurance.
At present, every girl who successfully completes the class 10 exams receives a bicycle or a scooter. However, starting this year, a sum of ₹10,000 will be credited to their bank accounts for a duration of two years while they prepare for the class 12 board exams, as stated by the Chief Minister.
CM Himata Biswa Sarma stated that female students who finish class 12 will be granted ₹12,500 for college enrollment, whereas those who opt for postgraduate studies will be awarded ₹25,000. He mentioned that after the elections, the head of the household will be entitled to life insurance, with the premiums being covered by the state government. Additionally, a female member will be eligible for benefits under the state government’s “Orunodoi” scheme.
Sarma explained that due to the Model Code of Conduct being in effect after the election, he is unable to make financial announcements, but he reassured that the commitments made during the campaign will be fulfilled once the elections are over.Sarma attributed the peace and prosperity in areas like Udalguri to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized the BJP government’s success in generating employment opportunities and promised to unveil an additional 50,000 jobs after the election. Sarma guaranteed the voters that the BJP’s administration at the national and state levels would propel the development of the region.
